17th Annual ZMR Music Awards
ZoneMusicReporter.com is continuing the tradition of hosting an annual Music Awards program. Welcome to the 17th Annual ZMR Music
Awards. Last year's ZMR Awards were interrupted
by the pandemic but we were able to hold an online award process nontheless. Fortunately
the categorization process was already complete last year and the only thing impacted
was the show itself. This year, however, the scheduling
of the show was heavily impacted and as a result the whole
process was pushed back by about 2 months. We are back on track and
will proceed as normal - again minus the live show.
Like last year, there is no submittal fee or registration
required for an artist or label to qualify. If you meet
the qualifications listed below, you're included
in the field of award qualifiers:
- An artist or
label must have had a recording(s) that appeared in the
Top 50 of our Top 100 Chart during the period December
2019 through November 2020 to qualify for all categories
except "Album of the Year" and Best New Artist9
- To qualify for "Album of the Year," a recording had to
appear in the Top 10 of our Top 100 Chart during the
period December 2019 through November
2020.
- Your recording did not appear in any previous years' ZMR
Music Awards Qualifier
list.
If you meet these three criteria, you are eligible for nomination.
Where can I find the list of
Qualifying Recordings?
A listing of all recordings that qualify for nomination are shown on the Qualifiers page. These are the only recordings in
contention for the ZMR Music Awards. Write in
candidates will not be accepted.

What if my recording is not in the correct category?
Categorization is not an easy task. It takes us time to put
together the listings and make sure everything is categorized properly. We hold internal discussions
for all of the categories and contemplate the makeup of each recording in consideration.
Recognizing that this process is not an exact science, and that we know we aren't perfect, after our internal review, we
post the recordings online and open a one to two-week period where comments are accepted from the artist / label community.
We will consider requests for a change in category during this period. Recognize that we think we have a pretty good reason
for where we placed the recording, so it won't be easy to convince us otherwise unless there is a glaring, obvious mistake.
After the voting is opened, requests for changes will not be considered.
Who does the
voting?
Voting for the
Category Nominations and Category Award winners will be done by
the Broadcasters (Show Hosts) that have reported Top 20 Playlists
to ZoneMusicReporter during the December 2018 thru November 2019 time period. In addition, both RJ Lannan And Bill Binkelman will be on the voting panel. This is a
far-reaching panel of industry experts and lovers of the music that
ZoneMusicReporter represents. We could not think of a more worthy and
knowledgeable panel to decide both the Category Nominees and Category
winners.
How does the Awards process
work?
The complete rules and process are
available on the Rules page.
Award
Winners will be announced on this website
without any unforseen interruptions on Saturday July 10th!
What do the Award Winners receive?
The
winner in each category will receive an engraved Award
Plaque. The four remaining nominees in each category will
receive a Certificate.
