This page allows users to either add or edit a recording to our database.
Step One - Logon
1. First, you must be logged onto NewAgeReporter using your User Name and Password. 2. Click on the Recordings tab on the menu bar. The default
page is the Add/Edit Recording form.
Step Two - Search database
Tip: It is a good idea to make sure that the recording you
are trying to enter is not in our database already. This can
happen due to a misspelling in the title, etc. The best way to check
this is:
1. Try seaching on just the Artists last
name 2. If it a recording is of various artists, try
using a few of the key words in the title. 3. To try
these test, click on the "Select Recording"
at the top of the form. A
pop up window will appear. 4. In this pop up, you
have three (3) search options:
- Search by Artist
- Search by Recording
- Search by Label
5. Using the advise in the Tip above, see if you can
locate the recording in our database. If no results are returned,
you are now ready to enter the recording.
Tip: It also a good idea to check that the
Artists and the recording Label is in the database before you begin
entering the reording info.
Step Three - Enter Recording
The two critical (and required) pieces of
information that you must enter for a recording is the Recording
Title and the
Artists Name. The database will not
accept your entry without them.
1. Check
to make sure that the Artists is listed in our database. Click on the
"Select Artists" field and a pop
up will appear. Type in the Artist Name and click the " Search
button". If the Artists name appears in the results, double
click on the name to enter it on the form. (Note: if the artists
name does not appear, you must go to the " Add/Edit
Artists" form to enter it.)
2. Enter the Recording Title. - Enter the recording title in the
"Recording Title" field.
3. Enter Artists - For the artists, click on the
"Primary Artists" field and a pop up will appear. Type
in last name of the artists. If found, a list of or a single artists with
the last name will appear. Double click on the desired artists to enter
it in the form. (Note: If the artists is not found, you must go to the
"Add/Edit Artists" form to enter it. If there are more
that one artists for the recording, you can enter them by clicking on
the "Additional Artists" field. Follow the steps above
to enter the artists in the form. (Note: The field in front
of the additional artists field is used to select the appropriate
separator between the artists names.)
(The above two pieces are all that is required to submit the
recording to our database. If you know the remaining info, please enter
it in remaining field.)
4. Enter Recording Label. Click on the "Select Label" field and a
pop up will appear. Type in the label name and click the search button.
If the label appears in the results, double click on the name to enter
it on the form. (Note: if the Label name does not appear, you must
go to the "Add/Edit Labels"
form to enter it.)
5. Enter Label Catalog Number - This is the labels
identifying number for the recording . (It is not the barcode
number).
6. Enter UPC Code - This is the barcode number.
7. Enter Release Year - This is the year the
recording was release. This is helpful information to us. If you know
it, please enter it.
8. Enter Release Date - This is the release date of the recording.
If you know this, please enter it. This date is what we use to populate
our "New Releases Page". So if the recording was
released within the last few months, this date will allow it to
appear on our "New Releases"
page.
9. Add Hyperlink - If you know the hyperlink to the
artists webpage promoting the recording or to a sales site such as CD
Baby, enter it here. (IMPORTANT! Do Not Include the HTTP:// in
the URL you enter. Our database automatically adds this for you.
If you do enter it, the LINK WILL NOT WORK).
10. Add Image - NewAgeReporter is the only one who
can enter Recording Cover Art. If you would like it entered in
our database, please contact us.
11. Recording Catagories - Select the catagory you
feel best represents the music.
12. Save the Entry - This is the most important step. To save your
entry, click on the "Submit Form" button at the bottom
of the screen. (Note: You must click on the Submit button
to enter your info in our database, if not it will not be
saved.)
Step Four - Add Recording Song Titles
(Note: Song titles are required for broadcasters to use our
on-line playlist feature.)
1. Add Recording Song Titles - To add song titles,
click on the "Edit Songs For This Recording" link
located under the album title field at the top of the page.
2. Add Song Titles - Add the song titles in
the Song Title fields in the same sequence as the
they appear on the recording.
3. Add Edit Artists - (This is ans optional
step) - If a recording has a Featured Artists or if the recoding is
by Various Artists, you can add thse artists name to each song
if desired. To add the artists, click on the "Edit Artists" link
and a entry field will appear. Click on the Select Artists
field and a pop up will appear. Type in the Artist Name and
click the Search button. If the Artists name
appears in the results, double click on the name to enter it on the
form. (Note: if the artists name does not appear, you must go to
the Add/Edit Artists form to enter it.)
4. Add Time - (This is
optional) You can add the song time in the
"Time" field.
5. Add Song Audio Hyperlink - (Thai is
Optional) - You can add audio samples of a song by entering the
hyperlink to the song sample if available on the artists website.
(IMPORTANT! Do Not Include the HTTP:// in the URL you
enter. Our database automatically add this for you. If you do
enter it, the LINK WILL NOT WORK).
6. Save the Entry - This is the most important step.
To save your entry, click on the "Submit Form"
button at the bottom of the screen.
